FIT TROUBLESHOOTING: LACING TECHNIQUES FOR ENHANCED COMFORTABILITY

Having fit issues? Lems have outlined some lacing tips and tricks to help make your Lems fit even more comfortably!

PRIMAL 2 & TRAILHEAD:

Feel like your heel is slipping in the Primal 2s or Trailheads but the length is just right? Try tying your shoes with a Runner’s Knot! (also known as a butterfly lace technique) This simple lacing change will help secure your heel in the heel without having to synch up the entire shoe and cause discomfort.

To lace your shoes with the Runner’s Knot:

  1. Start by unlacing the top eyelet
  2. Next lace each side of the lace through the eyelet directly above it to create a loop
  3. Now that you have your loops, cross your laces like you normally would when lacing shoes and lace through the loops you created
  4. Finally pull your laces tight, synching up the loops and tie like normal!

BOULDER BOOT, WATERPROOF BOULDER BOOT & BOULDER BOOT MID:

Feel like your heel is slipping in your Boulder Boots but the length is just right? Try tying your shoes with Surgeon’s Knot! This simple lacing change will help secure your heel in the heel without having to synch up the entire shoe and cause discomfort.

To lace your shoes with the Surgeon’s Knot:

  1. Start by unlacing your boots so that the top 3 eyelets are open
  2. Do a double-overhand knot and lace the ends into the third set of open eyelets from the bottom up
  3. Do a second double-overhand knot and lace the ends into the middle set of open eyelets to complete your surgeon’s knot
  4. Lace the boots like normal at the first set of eyelets to complete lacing your boots back up

ACHILLES PAIN/RUBBING WITH BOULDER BOOTS:

Having pain on the back of your leg from your Boulder Boots? Try leaving the top eyelet unlaced! This will allow less tension of the back of your leg and allow for more movement in the back of the boots so they break in more quickly.

TIGHTNESS IN THE TOE BOX:

Feel like you need just a little more room in the toe box of your shoes? Try leaving the very bottom eyelet unlaced or try removing the insoles from your shoes for some more space in the toe box.

CUSTOMERS WITH HIGH ARCHES:

Do you have higher arches and need more room in the shoes? Try one of these tips!

Tip 1: Try removing the insoles of your shoes. This will allow your feet to sit deeper in the shoes.  Although this does create more space within the shoe or boot you may wear the inside out faster which we do not cover under the warranty.

Tip 2: Try the Window Lacing technique.

  1. Start by unlacing your boots to just below where you are feeling the tightness on top for your foot.
  2. Re-lace the boots by putting laces into the eyelets just above the previous ones.
  3. Finish tying your boots like you normally would with crossing the laces into the eyelets.
